The Surgery Center of Granger
Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center (OSMC) and Beacon Health System celebrated the opening of The Surgery Center of Granger on Thursday with a ribbon cutting that marked the completion of the regional destination for orthopedic surgery and care. The Surgery Center of Granger reflects the vision and expertise of these leading healthcare providers and demonstrates their commitment to providing the highest quality orthopedic care to patients at a convenient location in the community.
“We are pleased to open this new surgery center that reflects our commitment to the patients in the community who we serve,” said Diane Maas, Chief Strategy and Digital Growth Officer, Beacon Health System. “We have partnered together to be community leaders for comprehensive orthopedic surgical care. With advanced technologies and outstanding care, quality, safety and patient experience as our top priorities, we anticipate The Surgery Center of Granger will serve as a regional destination for orthopedics, spine and pain management.”
The Surgery Center of Granger is a $15.1 million, 23,150-square-foot facility located on 4.65 acres on the north side of Beacon Parkway near the Indiana Toll Road entrance and Capital Avenue.
The building contains four operating rooms, one procedure room and 20 pre- and post-operative recovery bays, with the ability to add two more operating rooms, a procedure room and up to 10 patient bays in the future.
“Orthopedic surgeries are increasingly shifting away from hospital inpatient settings to outpatient ambulatory surgery centers, where highly skilled orthopedic specialists and support teams diagnose and treat injuries, conditions and disorders using the most advanced instrumentation and technology,” said Dr. John A. Huchko, Medical Director, The Surgery Center of Granger. “Our facility will advance high-quality and high-value care by enhancing access and affordability while improving the health of our communities.”
The culmination of more than a year of planning, the layout and design of the facility went through several iterations as physicians and staff offered input to optimize flow and efficiency and offer patients the very best experience. Ground was broken on the facility in October 2021 with Panzica Building Corporation serving as project manager. The center incorporates natural light to encourage healing and create a comfortable, welcoming and patient-centered experience. It also features a covered entrance for patient drop-offs and a separate covered post-procedure pickup area.
“The combined strengths of the Beacon Bone & Joint and OSMC teams will mean comprehensive care for patients, whether they have an acute injury or have been living with chronic pain,” said Dan Gartee, Chief Executive Officer, OSMC. “Our board-certified and fellowship-trained specialists can help with everything from interventional pain management to orthopedic procedures, including total joint replacements, for bone, joint and spine injuries and conditions.
